This is my review on the movie JoJo Rabbit 2020

No.03 Cinema

About:
A World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy named Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

Review:
I was expecting a comedy but got so much more, at times I was laughing out loud then feeling inspired and then trying not to shed a tear.
It’s a clever story with a great message that sticks a big fat middle finger up to Nazi Germany.
The two young kids in this absolutely smashed it, it was like watching a young Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (keep an eye out for Yorki he is a comedy genius)
Great story and amazing cast definitely worth a watch.

Verdict:
A brilliant mixed emotional movie

Rating:
4/5

End credits:
No

Fun facts:
When Taika Waititi, who is Maori/Jewish, was asked about why he chose to play the role of Adolf Hitler, he said “The answer’s simple, what better ‘fu@k you’ to the guy?”
