About the movie:
Set in ’70s Kingston and ’80s Hackney, Yardie centres on the life of a young Jamaican man named D, who has never fully recovered from the murder committed during his childhood of his older brother. He gets involved with a local king pin, after getting himself in trouble with another gang he is sent to London, where he reconnects with his childhood sweetheart but also more trouble and more gangs.
Overall:
Decent watch with some solid acting, they done a really good job getting the settings of London in the 80’s down to a tee the cinematography and music telling the story spot on.
I did enjoy it but found it a little slow in places and predictable, nice effort from director Idris Elba I’m sure we will be seeing more from him in the future.
Verdict: Worth a watch
